NZ$1,995.00

Designer: Charles & Ray Eames

Maker: Herman Miller [ USA ]

Year: 1961 [ 1970s Edition ]

Size: H 730 x D/W 1065

Condition Report: Great condition for it’s age. tabletop and edges are in excellent shape. base shows some marking with age. Aluminium can be polished, but is currently left in it’s ages state.

.

First produced in 1961, the Eames Universal Base table was an addition to the growing portfolio of Eames table designs in the Herman Miller Offering. The construction of the Eames Universal Base table was similar to that of the earlier Contract range, with a black steel pedestal and vinyl rimmed table top. The difference is noticeable in the shape of the base, made with a more slimline, sleeker design but still constructed with the bright polished aluminium, an Eames staple.

An early edition of this design, produced in the 1970s and originally being used in an architects office in the UK until it made the journey to NZ

This table offers a soft grey top, with each foot offering a internally sprung self levelling detail only seen on the earlier tables.

A practical size, it comfortably fits 4 people, up to 6 in a pinch.
