Designed and produced locally in NZ, this beautiful bookshelf is constructed using a light grey European birch plywood. Finished on both faces with a premium hard-wearing laminate surface, produced by Egger in Germany. Separating each layer, threaded zinc-plated steel rods provide the vertical supports, with fastening nuts to keep everything locked in place.
Reminding the designer of bamboo, the name ‘shadows of bamboo’, is a phrase from an ancient Chinese poem, and perfectly encapsulates the verticality and openness of the design.
The third edition of the original Zhú Ying Shelf designed in 2022, these versions now offer the addition of a sleek double sided mirrored 304 stainless steel shelf and steel wire cross supports for added stability. This creates some intriguing reflections with the linear and diagonal lines of the shelf.
Included with the is a unique incense burner, designed to match the detailing of the shelf, along with a selection of leather pads to protect wooden floors in a range of colours.
